Incarcerated Parents can use Securus App to Help their Kids

I recently saw a video about a dad and his daughter doing homework together. While this is nothing new, it was interesting for a very specific reason. The dad was locked up behind bars while his daughter was at home getting his help. How can this be possible? Well, the father and his daughter were using the Video Visitation App from Securus.

Securus is a law enforcement/correctional facility communications company. They have been around since 1986 providing high quality communications technology and systems to various members of the law enforcement and criminal justice system. Back in 2013 they created the Video Visitation App which allows family members to visit with their incarcerated loved ones with their smartphones or tablets.

This is app is similar to other video technologies that allow people to see each other through devices while they communicate. Prisoners use a terminal in jail to talk with their loved ones who are using a mobile device or their computer.

When I saw the father and daughter trying to figure out a math problem – they were both really engaged in the process. The dad was asking his child to show him the problem and his child was really trying to figure out how to do it.

While the dad was helping his child to solve the problem he was also giving her advice about what college she should attend.
Securus understands that the Video Visitation App is a great tool for helping families to stay together when a mom or dad is in jail. This technology also helps to reduce the recidivism rate. More information about the Video Visitation App can be viewed at
